As most of you know I will be going to India again in the beginning of March, to continue to learn about yoga and its amazing benefits on our life. Since some of you have already showed interest in me teaching the Primary Series of Ashtanga and others would be curious to try it, I think it would be really cool to organize a traditional Ashtanga yoga workshop within the coming weeks.

Ashtanga yoga is a style of dynamic Hatha developed by Sri.K. Pattabhi Jois in the city of Mysore, South of India. The physical practice of Ashtanga is an intense one which uses three main things: Ujjayi pranayama ( Victorious breathing ), drishti ( gazing point) and asana ( posture). We jump a lot back and forth ( we have many Vinyasas), therefore it’s a heating and sweaty practice meant to purify our nervous system.

I would suggest as a pre-requisite minimum 3 months of regular practice. The student should have basic knowledge of yoga breathing techniques and alignment & should be able to do 10 Sun Salutations while maintaining a smooth breath.

In case you are interested to participate, please message me by using the contact form or write me a private message on Unfold Your Mat’s Facebook page. The outcome of the above proposal depends on the number of applicants. Once enough shown interest in this workshop, I will come back with more details.

Feel free to invite your Göteborg friends!

Namaste,

Lavinia
